3rd October 2010

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We had just celebrated Children’s Day cum Hari Raya on the 1st of October. It was a bright sunny day and children had a whale of  time at the playground. Parents were very kind to bring food and goodies for the children to share with their friends in school.

The children had lots of fun with their siblings and friends. They played games, watched magic tricks, cartoons and enjoyed the delicious food.

Our 27th Annual Concert and Graduation on the 26th September was a great success. The children had the  opportunity to express their creativity and to show their innate talents they possessed.

The graduates were excited and proud of their accomplishments. They gave a special presentation- recited poems to honour their parents and teachers. The children sang 'On top of the world', 'The world is a rainbow' and '1 Malaysia' much to the delight of the audience.

Everyone put in great efforts in the production of this concert, entitled the ' Golden Tales ' which were a collection of imaginative short stories created with moral values narrated by the  graduates and performed by our talented team.

Parents and families were entertained by children's breathtaking performances, songs, modern and traditional dances. All the efforts of the teachers showed throughout the concert as the children confidently took to the stage.

Everyone gave their best performance from as young as three to six years old. Parents and families thoroughly enjoyed the whole show.

Despite the heavy downpour at Taman Melawati and the massive jam, we were able to start the concert on time.  Many thanks to all our dear parents for your co-operation. Without your support the concert would not be possible.

7 th of October the children had 'jagung' feast from our own vegetable plot. They were very excited to see the plants grew and produced fruits after weeks of planting.

They loved the taste so much that they wanted to plant new  seeds again. Previously  we harvested the groundnuts, put them to boil and added a bit of salt.

Teachers and children loved the sweetness of the fresh groundnuts. We also tried growing different kinds of beans such as long beans, they tasted so good. Kia Hon's mom gave us some seedlings- lady's fingers and tomatoes, we planted them on our vegetable plot.

When children are taught to sow seeds and look after their plants, we help them learn some valuable lessons of life. Cookery is another fun lesson for children every Thursday.

They love to prepare food such as the 'capati', sandwiches, pancakes, fruits and vegetable salads etc. The vegetables we grow, we cook and make gravy for the capati. The children enjoy making the capati and eat with the vegetable gravy.

Sometimes children bring fruits and vegetables from home and we have  vegetable and fruit salads for snack. Having our own vegetable plot is an exciting experience for the children, where they can discover, explore, investigate, learn and grow. Most importantly, they learn to be productive and get to taste the fruits of their labour.

Well time goes by without noticing, it is already time to receive new enrolments for 2011. Highest priority given to our current students (2 to 5 years of age) to continue their education.

School ‘Open Day’ on the 12th, 13th, 14th of November, we look forward to meet our parents and other families.  Students' project works will be on display. The children will have fun exploring the activity areas.  We  provide the children with the best learning environment and experiences.

Once again we would like to thank all our parents for your continuous support, confidence and trust. We appreciate your involvement in all our school activities. There is nothing more rewarding than cultivating and educating our young  generations.

I wish you all,  Happy and Successful  living

Best regards,

Mrs. Law

Once again thanks

Dear Parents and Guardians,

April has been a very busy and exciting time preparing for the Sports Events and Art Exhibition. Children have demonstrated their creativity in their school projects and we are very pleased to see their improvement in various aspect of learning, including self help skills.

We take this opportunity to thank our staff team for their incredible work with the children. We will continue to persist in our educational beliefs to provide children with a stimulating learning environment to facilitate their needs and development.

We would like to express our greatest gratitude to parents and guardians for your active participation in the students school projects and maintaining the home-school partnership.

Learning is most effective when it involves active participation. As Confucius said: "I hear, and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand." Children optimum success occurs when all the five senses are stimulated. Sensory activities are the media of learning.

Observation, exploration, thinking and imagination are the essential learning approaches. A sense of achievement reinforces further learning.

Interest is the driving force for learning. Experience is a process one has to undergo on the journey of learning and growing. Children  learn through hands on experiences and to progress from experience.

They gain their self-discipline, responsibility, problem-solving skills and cooperation in developing mutual respect. We adults have many different ways to solve problems and that's because we have accumulated a lot of experiences.

Following are stories to share with you. First Story...

One day, a mother took her child to the seaside.  The child found a soda bottle and then started to put sand into the bottle.  The child could only pinch a small amount of sand into the bottle at a time.

The mother at this time came up to the child and tore a piece of newspaper and made into a funnel.  She inserted the funnel into the mouth of the bottle and then scooped up handful of sand and poured into the bottle through the funnel and soon the bottle was filled up.

The mother told the child that he was dumb, the way he put the sand into the bottle would take him forever....

The second story is quite similar with the first one except the method the mother used was different.

When the mother saw the child trying to put sand into the bottle a bit at a time, she observed patiently.  Later, she noticed that her child realized that this was not the best way and then he started looking for other objects to scoop the sand.

The child found a stick and used it as a spoon, but failed.  The child did not give up and came up with many different ideas, but still failed.  At this time, the mother gave him some hints.  At last he found a leaf and used it to transfer sand into the bottle.

Later, he rolled up one leaf as a funnel and then used another one to scoop up the sand and put it through the funnel and finally, he filled up the whole bottle with sand.  He was very proud with a sense of achievement; he ran to his mother and said  'I did it!'

According to the above two examples, we can see the importance of the learning process in a child.  Being parents, we love our children and by nature would contribute to them unlimitedly.

However, besides teaching them and helping them, children also need time and space to allow them to experience their learning.  From the above stories, it is important that we see things from children's perspectives and provide them vast amount of time and space for creations and imaginations.

If parents wish for their children to become independent, confident, respected and successful in the future, this must be done from a young age by providing them opportunities to learn through their experiences.

Tadika Aman Ceria allows children to learn in a happy, active, and healthy environment  where multi-cultural themes are  integrated in our lessons to arouse our children’s interest in their own culture as well as respecting other cultures. This helps to broaden their knowledge and widen their perspectives.

It is important to help children set a solid foundation and enjoy their remarkable learning process. We firmly belief that every child  possesses his/her own special talents  and our mission is to help children discover their potentials to explore, discover, investigate and to learn more.

Wishing you and your family, Happy and Healthy Living

Best Regards:

Mrs. Helen Law
