The November Holiday Camp 2010 ‘Unleash Leadership Potentials' was an exciting two weeks holiday activities for the children from the age of 3 to 10 years old. Everyone had a great time including the teachers. We had our outing trips, to the Cold Storage Supermarket near our school. The children explored the different sections of the supermarket, selling all sorts of products. The teachers showed them the different types of fruits, vegetables and other dairy products displayed attractively on the shelves. They were able to name the products, groceries, fruits and vegetables. Children were fascinated watching other shoppers made their purchases. They also attracted a lot of attentions from the shoppers who admired the children's creative hand painted T shirts they were wearing. It was FUN! Holiday camp give the children opportunities to experience learning in a new environment. Besides the Cold Storage Supermarket, we took the children to the book shop where they selected and bought their favourite books. Then we went in a toy shop, the children looked at all the toys but they were too expensive to buy. After that we headed straight to Subway for lunch. The Subway outlet is situated at the ground floor of the Cold Storage Supermarket. We all enjoyed the delicious food there. "Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Kamal" owner of the Subway outlet, ( pupils Adam & Rayyan's parents) The PET SHOP was another exciting place for the children to visit. The children were very excited to see some baby hedgehogs, cats and kittens, fishes, birds, rabbits, white mice, big and small iguanas etc. The children observed the 'pets' what they ate, how they moved around in their cages, they also examined the food sold in the shop. We spent about thirty minutes in the pet shop. When it was time to go home, the children were reluctant to leave. We extended another ten minutes, the children said goodbye to their 'pets' and we left. We were slightly late when we reached school, parents were already waiting for them. Another interesting place was the neighbourhood 'farm' where chickens ran here and there under the watchful eyes of the mother hens. The children were so excited they ran after the chickens, trying to catch them. The 'farm' has many types of fruit trees such as banana trees, coconut trees, 'laci', guava, pineapple, mango, durian, sugar-cane, mangosteen, 'mata kucing', etc. Some trees already bear fruits and some are not in season yet. The children were given the assignments to draw what they had seen. The aims of the holiday program is to foster confidence, self- esteem, leadership, build and strengthen relationships. On Fridays the children brought their swimming suits and had water play at our swimming pool. The children were taught accelerated learning and mind mapping, Techniques to improve attention and concentration. Games and quiz to test their EQ and memory skills. Other motivational activities include leadership 'trust building games. Science experiments, Cooking, Music and Drama. The Novemebr Camp's objective is to unleash children's leadership potentials.
