Our school organized an Educational Field Trip to High 5 Bread Town and Aquarium Shah Alam -Saturday 23rd Oct. 2010. We went on two buses with children, teachers and with some parents joining us. The journey was smooth flowing, weather was good and the children enjoyed the cartoon show in the bus and they sang along the way. When we arrived, we were ushered into the auditorium where children watched a short film on how breads were made in the ancient days. Next we visited the machinery museum. Then we came to the skywalk which was built like a corridor passageway. Framed with glass, allow children for an expansive view of the bread-making process. Our tour guides explained how the dough was first mixed before it went into the divider and rounder (to shape the dough), right down to dough riser and fermentation. The cooling tower, slicing process, and lastly packaged through automated state-of-the-art technology. Before we left the place, each child was given a bag of goodies. After lunch at Macdonald, we proceed to Shah Alam Aquarium. The children were awed at the sight of the 'Amazon Huge fishes' and the many other species on displayed in the aquariums and fish tanks. We bought packets of fish foods for children to feed the fish. The children were thrilled at the sights of all the different species. The children talked to each other, excited what they saw. There were open communication and discussion as they passed from one aquarium to the next. Even the parents and teachers expressed their excitement. We spent sometime showing the children all the different species, teachers read to them the names of different species and parents took snapshots of the fishes. We arrived at school just in time parents came to picked the children up. It was a perfect day for field trip as the weather was fine, children had fun and enjoyed their learning (a change from everyday classroom routine) which gave them a real-world experience. Children were also given the opportunity to experience hands-on learning such as kneading, touching, smelling, the bread dough and tasted the bread buns and sandwiches. Field trip is a great learning experience for children. Besides fostering fun and exciting exploration, it encourages social development. We encourage parents to join us on our next trip 2011 for a day of fun with your children and teachers. Contact: 603-41054382 N0. 11 Jalan H1, Taman Melawati, 53100 Kuala Lumpur |
